François Lis is a French architect and a graduate of the École nationale supérieure d’architecture de Grenoble, where he studied alongside Clément Daneau. Together, they founded lis & daneau immediately after completing their studies. For them, the studio is a natural continuation of their formative years, reflecting their view of architecture as an ongoing process of learning and research. Both are also teachers and members of the Lames.archi collective. Their work is deeply rooted in the act of building, driven by a sincere passion for architecture and shaped by fundamental yet profound questions, such as the pursuit of permanence and the value of continual inquiry.A significant part of their research focuses on the transformation of 20th-century concrete heritage and the future of sacred spaces. They were laureates of the 2020 AJAP (Albums des jeunes architectes et paysagistes) and were nominated for the Équerre d’Argent First Built Work Prize. Most of their projects are based in France, with a strong connection to their Alpine region.
