The experimental structure is located in the vibrant and busy Wembley area in front of the iconic stadium. The bandstand is a movable ‘sculpture’ that can be relocated in various places within site to create space for small performances.
The geometry of the shell in form of a cone was created using advanced parametric and acoustic modelling allows performances using only its natural acoustic. The stage is dedicated to solo or small assembly performances. The shell’s ‘skin’ is made from environmentally certified plywood covered with fiberglass for maximum material unitization and mass efficiency of structural performance.
The combination of the used materials gives an effect of absolute lightness of the scheme. The additional feature hidden behind the inner surface modulations are the programmable lights which turn the white surface into a vivid and colorful screen pulsating to the ongoing performance.
