Located in the heart of the village of Montrottier, the healthcare facility “Les Genêts” closed in 1998. This building remained abandoned. A portion of the existing structure was dismantled to allow for the creation of a public botanical garden and the development of 14 senior housing units.
The remainder of the project aims to maximize the use of the existing structure to enhance its qualities. The section of the existing building slated for conversion boasts an excellent view quality, as well as an ideal south-facing orientation. On the main facade, facing south, we proposed adding a new, light, and contemporary layer that reveals and complements the interest of the existing structure.
Primarily composed of wood, it gives a fresh look to this imposing construction visible from afar. Additionally, it provides passive solar control through the south-facing projecting balconies while ensuring the privacy of interior spaces and an exceptional view.
