This urban development in Porto, Portugal, targets the transformation of Avenida da Boavista and Marechal Gomes da Costa, focusing on pedestrian connectivity and the new Metro Bus system. The project emphasizes sustainable urban growth, integrates recreational areas, redevelops sidewalks, and improves the landscape.
Key to the design is the inclusion of tunnel crossings for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), ensuring seamless integration with urban life, facilitating spacious green areas and efficient vehicle flow, and enhancing pedestrian experiences. It reflects a commitment to sustainable urban development, emphasizing green spaces and pedestrian accessibility.
The BRT line spans 4 km with eight stations featuring rooftop gardens enhancing aesthetics and environmental impacts by reducing urban heat and carbon footprint. This initiative also converts parking spaces into green areas, promoting biodiversity and a pedestrian-friendly environment. This project in Porto exemplifies a sustainable, community-oriented approach to urban design, aligning with the goals of modern, eco-friendly city planning.
