From the street nothing has changed: neither the house, nor the wall, nor the close, nor the gate. Inside, the extension rests on the existing and occupies the entire width of the plot in order to preserve and admire the garden’s beauty. In the interstice between past and present, the entrance connects different uses and moments: the daily life as a couple, the family life when the house is full, the social life as a host.
All elements of the extension unfold towards the garden: direct views from the daytime spaces, filtered views from the evening and work zones. The existing house welcomes the visitors. The views are punctual, and the relationships are short. The intimacy of the heart of the garden is preserved, and as the visitor suspects, but does not see.
