Owner of a house in Meulière from the beginning of the 20th century, Cécile wanted to renovate her veranda with an industrial charm which due to its bad state requires renovation works.
The mission of the architect was to find a solution to preserve the romantic spirit of the house while providing a more generous living space and a better connection with the garden. With that proposal, an extension was created, open to nature and with the help of large glass facades, like glass curtains playing with the border between interior and exterior.
These full-height glass facades echo the industrial language of the old glass roof with this set of vertical posts. The project of renovation has developed several volumes, to respect the proportions of the house providing a feeling of space and light.
The junctions between the spaces are treated with wood, such as the bench between the dining room and the living room, the glass roof between the entrance and the kitchen. The walls of the extension were made of insulated brick 30cm thick, by which process material was saved towards better energy efficiency. The bricks replaced the breeze blocks and the interior lining.
The house extension by 20m2 and renovation of 45m2 project is a multi-award recipient.
