The project is a renovation effort of the Ex-Air France headquarters, built by Gregotti in 2000. The renovation is part of an urban transformation of Porte de Montreuil.
The first concept aimed to consider and keep the qualities of timeless elements, by technique and design, and to transform the rest in order to match future trends.
It was the first project for which the architects included in the design process the re-employment in-situ or ex-situ of building materials.
For the renovated or new elements (as the ground floor façade or interior finishings) it was decided to bring as few materials as possible so as to reveal the beauty of the concrete structure and to save on carbon usage. The few new elements brought to the project are only inert materials.
The program of the building is to consider all the services (restaurants, rooftops, sport, and meeting rooms) as an extension of the personal desk at the office. The new organizational plan aims to welcome newfound companies acting as a business incubator.
