Not to stand out but respect.
There is a street in Gdynia, Poland, whole made of the same residential buildings from 1950’ in a modernism spirit. We designed a house in 2023 (building in progress) on a place of a previous one. It was meant to blend into surrounding and respect the history.
Simple concept. The buildings must harmoniously blend with the surrounding area. Minimalistic design. Simplicity and minimal detail are the hallmarks of this project. Contemporary technology was used, although it looks like it has been here forever.
The house has historical form and some historical windows, but it has additional few contemporary windows (see ideogram), which are assembled on the very surface of the elevation. The concept of this house continues and develops the idea – the house nearby to the right was built in 2017 and is also designed by us (cooperation with son of the investors).
