The Senlis Conservatory of Dance and Music is located in the heart of the former Ordener military barracks. Our proposal is to complete this history by an intervention designed as if it had always been there but elaborated according to the new program. The extension is nested in the center of the existing building in order to protect its peripheral open spaces. Furthermore, the development of this extension, on the ground floor and in the lower ground level / underground level, preserves the biggest part of the surrounding meadow. The extension develops itself in several layers into the ground, seeking thermal stability, and into the air, capturing the energy of the sun and wind. The project is designed in order to encourage harmony between human activities and natural environments. The principles of biomimicry help to set up a regenerative ecosystem ensuring the resilience of the project.
