Create, in the center of an estate of more than 10 sq. mt. in the Manicouagan region, in Quebec, a building that can simultaneously accommodate two artists in residence. The challenge of the project through this building, and its function as a workshop for two artists, was to question the feeling of an individualist dimension versus a collective dimension.
The aesthetic treatment, the symmetry of the plan, the simplicity of the layout, seeks homogeneity to eliminate any hierarchy between the users of the building. The half-buried building emerges from the landscape and seeks to create a dialogue with the visitor, through its triangular shape perceived differently depending on the angle from which it is observed.
Form, which also refers to a rich and symbolic imagination that must be interpreted. The spaces are designed with the paradoxical desire to both close them in on themselves, and at the same time open them to a targeted environment. Show the immediate environment, but in a different way, thanks to large openings at ground level, or skylights that aim at the sky. Only the central meeting space opens entirely onto an exterior space but is paradoxically closed.
