This Project consists of the rehabilitation of a unique property located in the historic center of the city of Ourense. The building housed a cloistered convent but remained in a dilapidated condition since it had been abandoned decades before the project. The fundamental principle of the intervention is based on respecting and enhancing the unique elements of the building while repurposing it for a dental clinic that has a wide range of complex structural needs. To this end, the architects first performed a preliminary study of the building conditions, including a 3D scan that allows a detailed graphical definition of the property. Additionally, handcrafted negative molds of singular pieces are made to ensure the faithful reproduction of the unique existing elements, such as carpentry, moldings, and decorative details. The exterior design, including a rear patio, recovers the original values of the original building.
