Construction of Exhibition showcase for the Atelier des Beaux-Arts Glacière, 2018 – 2021 – Jérôme Stablon | Paris, France

The project is located along a busy street in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, on 17 m² of land with a 4.80-meters opening onto the street characterized by large neighboring overhanging walls.

An atypical program, the annex to the Atelier des Beaux-Arts Glacière offers exhibition space for various works in their modes of expression and formats (drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, etc).

Considered as “a showcase on the street”, this small building was created in co-design with the District Council and residents.
The project is formalized as an abstract object that slips between two party walls without touching them, creating a call from the street via an overhanging roof forming both a cap and a sunshade.

As the venue is not intended to welcome visitors, the choice was made to bring the works to spectators via a system of easy-to-use removable picture rails.

Utilizing the maximum available space glass surfaces allows you to fully enjoy the works. Above and below these walls two concrete slabs have been installed defining the general footprint of the building.
