The local community tasked us with designing tourist accommodations along the shores of Lake Bort-les-Orgues. The four structures are scattered across the site, seamlessly integrated into the canopy, with a focus on minimizing impact on the existing site and its qualities. Given the challenging and less accessible nature of the site, a primary timber post-and-beam structure supports a suspended floor on stilts and a covering.
Within this framework, lightweight wooden lodges, prefabricated on the ground, are installed. This approach ensures minimal disturbance to the ground, with a rational and optimized construction logic. The accommodations are crafted from local raw wood (Douglas fir) and covered with ordinary corrugated metal sheets.
The chosen materials will naturally weather over time, as no treatments are applied. The design intentionally references the style and materials of the surrounding ordinary structures.
