The proposal is based on the design of a nursery building that will dynamically contribute to the integration of modern educational tools regarding the sustainability and the perceptual approach of the infant and the toddler, while at the same time an attempt is made to present a memory-centered almost compositional process. The process proposes the constitution of spatial entities that are amenable to interaction, spatial interpretation, and multiplicity. The users’ reading of the entities through these features is argued to be able to constitute fragments of solidified forms of infancy by co-opting memory. Memory as an unstructured characteristic of this particular age is brought to the forefront of the proposal at the same time as the idea of education as a result of contemporary social values.
The continuity of the project as a public space and the integration of the proposal into the urban fabric promote the first option of noting elements of coordinates for a tour of the space. These elements come to delineate a context of navigation where spatial monumental entities are placed. The loading of the elements to be placed, to the extent that their perceptual and spatial identity emerges, makes the process almost object-oriented. “Things” are not nested elements of functions, but structural rejections, tools that aim at the composition of an architectural expression, in order to frame the memory of spatial events in general. The toolbox incorporates, the transition spaces as they are interpreted as devices for provoking events, the structural elements as a reminder of a three-dimensional canvas of navigation, the bark being punctually perforated gives light a role in the spatial play, the enclosure as an engraving of integration in the urban fabric (it protects internal actions, extends the field of use of space as it contributes to the creation of a threshold and the vision of the exterior space is redefined, appears as an urban infrastructure), the changeable divisions of the project layout as spaces appear as dynamic multiplicities by altering their dimensions to promote a series of additional collective actions and relations (the generalized association between children is prioritized over their rational arrangement in sections).
