Cristina is a Spanish architect, educated in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain), Cottbus (Germany), and Guadalajara (Mexico). In 2014, she moved to France, learnt French and, alongside Stéphane Burlat, returned to his hometown, Paray-le-Monial (Bourgogne-Franche-Comté) to establish “Burlat & Vega. Architectes“ in order to advocate for the right to architecture for everyone in rural areas. In 2022 she receives the national prize Jeune Femme Architecte awarded by ARVHA.The studio works with multiple programs, including rehabilitations, new constructions, and urban, architectural, or design projects, dedicating the same rigor to every scale of each project, in its conception, drawing and execution. Managing the impact generated by each project in its immediate social and physical environment, both during and after its completion, is a premise for its coherent conception and design.Embracing the architecture as driving force of a territory, the studio is concerned to conceive building places where social exchange is created. The architecture that emerges from this internal process becomes shared culture, that being landscape and society, enriching its nearby territory. Therefore, each project becomes a shared challenge to find reasoned architectural solutions that best adapt to offering a better quality of life for users, maintainers, builders, neighbors, and the environment.
